Inverted Full-Back

A full-back who tucks inside into midfield when their team has the ball instead of overlapping wide. Creates an extra body in central midfield and allows the winger to stay high and wide. Guardiola popularized this at Manchester City with Cancelo and Walker. Now every manager tries it with varying degrees of success.

"He's playing as an inverted full-back today, sitting alongside the defensive midfielder when they're in possession."
