A forehand grip where the palm sits further under the handle, allowing extreme topspin generation. The full Western grip is common among players who grew up on slow clay courts where heavy topspin is essential. The tradeoff is that low balls and flat shots become harder to hit. Nadal uses a semi-Western grip, which is slightly less extreme but still spin-friendly. Your grip is the foundation of your game.
"Full Western grip forehand. The ball jumps off the court at shoulder height after the bounce. Heavy, heavy topspin."
