Arcade Classics is the permanence shelf: Tetris, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Donkey Kong are games whose facts have a decay rate of exactly zero, and whose records culture, from Tetris world championships to perfect Pac-Man runs, gives them a competitive history no modern subject can match for stability. Quizzes cover the release chronology of the golden age, the patterns and mazes the high-score community documented frame by frame, the mechanics that invented genres (the falling block, the power pellet, the kill screen), and records stated with their year attached, because even eternal games get new champions. This is also the vertical's bridge shelf: the players who grew up on these cabinets and the ones who found them through championships and documentaries meet on the same questions. High scores were the first Stan culture. This is where it gets quizzed.
The front door of the classics shelf, opening in 1978: invaders descending in formation, a maze with four ghosts, a gorilla on a building site, and blocks falling in the Soviet Union. Ten questions on the golden age's load-bearing facts, tested on the arcade originals only. Home ports are other games and are never the answer here.
